What Should I Know About Vaniqa Eflornithine Cream
Generic Vaniqa Eflornithine Cream is used to slow down the growth of unwanted hair on the face and under the chin in women. It chunks a certain natural substance (an enzyme) required for hair growth in the skin. It results in slows hair growth and may also make the hair finer and lighter.
It has not revealed whether or not eflornithine hydrochloride is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when VANIQA is administered to a nursing woman.
It has not been proved whether Vaniqa Eflornithine should be used in pediatric patients less than 12 years of age.
Of the 1373 patients on active treatment in clinical studies of this medication, about 7% were 65 years or older and approximately 1% were 75 or older. No apparent differences in safety were observed between older patients and younger patients.
If you have allergy to any of the ingredients, inform your doctor before using VANIQA.
If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, talk to your doctor whether you should use VANIQA during pregnancy. No clinical studies have been performed in pregnant women.
If you are breast feeding, consult your doctor before using VANIQA. It is not well-known if VANIQA passes in to infants through breast milk.
Check with your physician before use of VANIQA if you are taking any prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines or using any facial or skin creams.
Vaniqa Eflornithine may lead to many side effects such as tingling, or redness of the skin, rash, burning, stinging, or "hair bumps" (folliculitis). If these effects continue or deteriorate, let your doctor know. Inform your doctor right away if you develop any of these serious side effects: bleeding skin, swelling of the face or lips. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
It is not meant for use on other parts of the body. It does not remove hair or cause the hair to fall out.
If you forget or miss a dose of VANIQA do not try to compensate using more. Follow your normal application schedule as soon as you can.
You may apply your normal cosmetics or sunscreen after using VANIQA, but you should wait a few minutes to allow the treatment to be absorbed before applying them.
If you use overdose mistakenly, contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local poison control center (http://www.aapcc.org), or emergency room at once. Eflornithine Cream may be harmful if eaten. Symptoms may comprise dizziness; facial swelling; hair loss; headache; hearing loss; loss of appetite; seizures; unusual bruising or bleeding; upset stomach; weakness.
VANIQA is contraindicated in patients holding a history of sensitivity to any components of the preparation.
